Three Ways to Encourage a Strong Company Culture
Posted by aonenetworks On October 18, 2013Are you looking for new ways to make your employees feel more connected? Check out the following tips to see if they can help you find a way.
Give Back to the Community
The fabric of a good workplace runs deep. Part of that depth has to do with reconnecting and giving back to a local community – the one that the majority of your employees are part of. Even if your company has gone national, that doesn’t mean you can’t devote time to local activities. For example, if your main headquarters is located in Cleveland, OH, then give back to that community. They are, after all, probably the first audience that trusted you enough to give you the business you needed to succeed. This doesn’t only help the people around you, but it can bring great pride to your company’s employees. They deserve it, too; they might be helping someone who really needs it for one reason or another.
Have Office Parties
Office parties, when they become a tradition, are fabulous ways to get to know one another and have a good relaxing few hours together as an office-family. You might think they sound corny, but many people enjoy getting away from their computers for a few minutes to enjoy potluck dishes and good company. If the office party is a holiday party, have a fun activity such as a gift exchange or a friendly competition to get the party going.
Encourage Communication
Even when something that needs to be said is negative, it should still be said. Honor your open-door policy at work and make sure everyone knows they can come to talk to you about anything at any time. Set up a separate e-mail for people to use if they want to talk to you about something important when they’re uncomfortable walking into your office.
