SEO: You Can Do It Yourself
Posted by aonenetworks On December 6, 2012Believe it or not, SEO isn’t always as complicated as some people make it out to be. Though there are some things that are more complicated than just the basics, and it’s good to consult an expert for those particular things, a lot of techniques you can do yourself.
Build a Controllable Website
Some people aren’t good at building their own websites, and that’s okay – the important part of having a website is that, at any given time, you can take the reins. It’s critical that if you don’t already have a website that you build one immediately. Digital representation of your company is just as important as physical representation.
Make sure you use your website wisely. Building your expertise by posting blogs and articles that your customers will find important is a good place to start. In addition, build your website on easy-to-edit platforms like WordPress and SquareSpace.
Keyword Correctly
Obviously “cupcakes” is a terrible keyword for a website that specializes in pet food. You want to make sure that your keywords are appropriate in length, topic, and that they describe your business well. Ask a few customers and friends to describe your company, or ask them what they would search for if they were looking for a company like yours. Alternatively, you can use Google tools to help you find the right keywords.
Stick with Your Content Schedule
Writing a blog here and there isn’t really going to help your business. Make sure you get a schedule and you stick to it tightly. Add to your blog and website over time, and don’t do it in just one big rush. Start with three or four blogs a week, schedule them ahead of time, and watch the content add up. Don’t just post sixty blogs and expect people to wade through them all at once.
