New Ways To Get Your Off The Beaten Track Location Noticed

location-162102_640You know you’ve got a fantastic place to work, and your employees agree. The problem? It’s a little in the middle of nowhere-ish, and nobody really knows where you are. But don’t worry, there are few different, absolutely fantastic ways to fix that, technologically driven, of course, and below, I’ll introduce you to them.

Directories

Let’s start with the obvious stuff first. The humble directory has been around for as long as the internet has. In fact, Yahoo essentially started out as a directory site. Originally, every site in their index was hand reviewed. With the explosive growth that followed, that became increasingly less possible, but the concept of the directory is still sound.

If you’re not a member of any directory services, you should be. They are free to join, and a fantastic way to get more eyeballs looking at your location. Note too that directories come in all shapes and sizes. You can sign up for an account with a website like Yelp.com, create a profile and be categorized according to what city and state you’re in. The database is searchable by business type, geographic location, and of course, company name, so there are lots of ways to find you.

Even better, as part of setting up your profile, you can upload pictures of your facilities so that people will know what to look for when they get close, and you can provide map views, courtesy of a tie-in with Google Maps, in order to make yourself easier to find. Best of all though, customers can leave reviews about their experiences with your company, so not only is it a great way to get noticed, but it’s also a way to show off what a fantastic company you have when your customers start leaving reviews for you there.

There are of course, city-level directories for most major metro areas, and if you’re operating in one of them, you can check out the smaller fare. Just because the smaller directories don’t get as much traffic, don’t think that makes them any less appealing. After all, the people who will be looking on the city level directory sites are the ones who either live there or are visiting, so every person on the site is a potential customer and reasonably close by. Both important considerations.

Instagram

The newest darling of the Social Media world, image-based Instagram is a great way to get your business noticed, no matter where you’re located. You can send pictures of your business, both interior and exterior shots, and post lots of exclusive, “behind the scenes” updates to your fans about what you’re doing, offer them exclusive deals and provide directions, all from the same site. It’s fantastic!

Google Street View

Just about everybody on the web uses Google Maps. It is the de facto standard, but fewer people know about Google Street View. It is exactly what it sounds like it is. Google Maps, but down to the street level. You can literally take a tour of most cities in America, block by block, building by building. That includes your building, so make sure that the outside of your building is spruced up and great looking so you make a great first impression to your visitors.
