Find Productivity in a Mine Field of Distractions
Posted by aonenetworks On May 17, 2013Life is distracting. There’s always something going on, and when there isn’t, the period is so brief that we don’t really remember those moments well. What we do remember is the overwhelming amount of work we have to do every single day, and how much we don’t want to do all of the work we do. There are always distractions from getting things done – hobbies, family, emergencies – and it’s our job as employees and CEOs to overcome the distractions and get things done anyway. Here are a couple of tips to get you started.
Love What You Do
Many teachers say they don’t feel like they go to work every day, and instead they are just doing something they enjoy every day of their lives – like work is a hobby. Some of us won’t ever get to that level of comfort with our jobs, but we can still enjoy what we do and have a passion for it. If you love what you do, you’ll get more out of it, and because you’re getting more out of it, you’ll work harder, be more productive, and be less stressed in the long run.
Don’t Limit Yourself
Just because you think you can’t do something doesn’t mean you can’t. One of the most important features of being productive is your mindset. If you think you can, you probably can. Just because you can’t do it today or tomorrow doesn’t mean you can’t do it at all. Self-limiting beliefs are poisonous to productivity, and can derail even the most productive people among us. Don’t let them. Use your confidence and ability to overcome challenges to stay persistent and positive. Most importantly, keep going, even when it feels absolutely impossible to do so. You’ll eventually find success.
